Preston Fearon can’t be ignored anymore: Stats show why West Ham debut is edging closer

Preston Fearon is a player that West Ham fans should be excited about.

While the Hammers have been able to reduce the gap from safety, they are still at risk of relegation from the Premier League ahead of the final nine games of the season.

And to ensure that they are best equipped to avoid it, Nuno Espirito Santo will be looking towards the senior members of the squad to drag them out of the current predicament.

However, a small injection of youth could also aid their battle against the drop, and after the form hye has shwocased this season, Fearon is a player who is certainly deserving of a chance.

How has Preston Fearon fared for West Ham Under-21s?

Josh Ajala and Mohamadou Kante are the two players who look closest to breaking through at the London Stadium, but Fearon should be right up there with them.

The teenager has had a phenomenal season in the Premier League 2, and his consistency is the key factor as to why he deserves a chance.

Not only has he showcased his versatility, but Fearon has impressed more often than not for the Hammers, and that is backed up by his stats.

Fearon has seven goal contributions in 17 Premier League 2 appearances, but with 24 chances created, that is where his main strength lies.

The 19-year-old has the quality to make a difference in games, as he has done in three of his last four appearances, having scored in them.

When may Fearon get his chance at West Ham?

With the Hammers set to face Brentford in the FA Cup, there is every chance that the teenager gets some minutes off the bench.

Should that fail, then he is still well-placed to make an appearance in a matchday squad for West Ham between now and the end of the campaign.

Nuno will be well aware of his abilities already, and with the likelihood of him heading to pre-season with the senior squad, he may well want to get a real look at him in the Premier League 2.

Should the Irons be able to build some momentum, his chance may come towards the latter stage of the campaign, depending on the league position.
