George Earthy injury update emerges at Bristol City after West Ham United loan exit

West Ham United youngster George Earthy has been sidelined with a new ankle injury, according to Bristol Live.

The outlet reported on its website on Monday (2 September) that the attacking midfielder, who is on loan in the Championship with Bristol City, will be ruled out for two to three weeks at Ashton Gate.

Earthy missed the Robins’ clash with Derby County on Saturday (31 August) having picked up the issue during a 1-1 draw with Coventry City when he was on the end of a late tackle from Kasey Palmer.

The 19-year-old has linked up with former Hammers youth team coach Liam Manning at Ashton Gate and has so far made two substitute appearances in the Championship.

Do West Ham United have any young players out on loan?

This injury update isn’t just a blow for Bristol City and Earthy, but it is a shame for West Ham as well as the Irons sent the teenager to the South West so that he could get a real taste of what first-team football is like week in and week out.

Although the 19-year-old has impressed in his limited minutes so far, he hasn’t yet been able to find a way to force his way into the Robins’ starting XI week in and week out and this latest injury may well have delayed that even further.

Luckily, the knock to his ankle may well have come at a perfect time as it should allow Earthy to have plenty of time to rest and recover over the international break when both the Hammers and City don’t have fixtures to contend with.

There is still loads of football to be played between now and the end of the season and plenty of time for the attacking midfielder to make his mark in a Robins shirt before he heads back to the London Stadium.

Hopefully, he will be able to kick on once he returns from injury and have a strong campaign in the Championship so that he is ready to make his mark in claret and blue this time next year.
