Ezra Mayers to excite Graham Potter at West Ham after what he did
Graham Potter was able to bring in new faces for West Ham during the winter transfer window as he looks to improve his side’s form in the second half of the campaign.
However, the boss is already looking forward to what he can do to shape his Irons side to reflect his own style of football and management.
Given Potter’s history of improving young players, it’s not a surprise to see the boss has already brought in some young players like Evan Ferguson to push his side forward.
With that in mind, the youth players in East London will no doubt be rubbing their hands together at the potential of being given minutes under the guise of their new boss.
One man who may have caught the eye of the boss is Ezra Mayers after his club shared a clip of him on X (4 February) making a vital tackle in the under-18s quarter-final win against Manchester United in the Premier League Cup.
Ezra Mayers could convince Graham Potter at West Ham
Youngsters like Mayers will be looking towards the first team as something that is an achievable aspiration, having watched the likes of Oliver Scarles be given the opportunity to play under Potter.
However, the boss will not be calling up players to the first team unless they show regularly that they have the ability to perform to the level that is expected.
That being said, the tackle from Mayers in the Under-18 game will have caught the eye of many and certainly shows that he has the ability to play with the physicality that is often lacking in youth football.
Therefore, if he carries on his strong form, he can surely catch the eye of those senior figures at The London Stadium and push his way into their thoughts and plans.
What is certain is that it’s an exciting time to be a youth player in East London and players like Mayers have the chance to take the opportunities ahead of them.
