Zan Vipotnik has been linked with a move to West Ham United as they prepare for their promotion push back to the Premier League.

There is no margin for error for the Hammers this summer, knowing that poor decisions could see them linger in the Championship for years - just ask Leeds United.

The truth is that no team is too big to go through a rough period outside of the Premier League.

As a result, it's vital that they get their recruitment spot on this summer, having already been linked with several targets.

Vipotnik is believed to be one of them, after he enjoyed a fruitful goalscoring campaign with Swansea City.

And while a name like that may not spark excitement given previous targets, he is the exact type of player that West Ham need to look at as they prepare to ramp up their transfer business with the window opening on Monday.

Why Zan Vipotnik is perfect for West Ham

The first step for West Ham is to get back into the Premier League.

And to do that, they will need a squad of players who can thrive in the Championship, just as Vipotnik did last term.

The 24-year-old Slovenian scored a remarkable 23 goals for the Swans, while also managing three assists

That is despite the fact he started just 35 times for them.

However, the reason for the transfer making a lot of sense goes far beyond what he would offer in the Championship, and also includes the potential he would have in the Premier League.

West Ham need players who have the ability and/or potential to thrive in both leagues, which Vipotnik certainly has.

How much would West Ham have to pay for Vipotnik?

Vipotnik has four years left on his deal with Swansea, making it clear that they are under no pressure to sell.

And that is only likely to be amplified if they were to sanction an exit to another Championship club, i.e., West Ham.

With that in mind, the Hammers may need to fork out upwards of £20million to land their striker target in the summer transfer window.
