Wolves mentioned as Vladimir Coufal set for exit talks at West Ham United

West Ham United defender Vladimir Coufal is as a target for Besiktas, according to Takvim.

The Turkish outlet reported on its website (8 August) that Besiktas have identified Coufal alongside Wolverhampton Wanderers defender Nelson Semedo as two targets to improve at right-back.

The 31-year-old is entering the final year of his contract and has been a regular for the Hammers since arriving from Slavia Prague in 2020.

Besiktas are now set to reach out to the agents of both players, with Coufal potentially set for the London Stadium exit.

West Ham United could sell Vladimir Coufal

Coufal’s time in East London seems all but over. West Ham are targeting Manchester United right-back Aaron Wan-Bissaka as their latest signing (TEAMtalk, 8 August).

Julen Lopetegui has accelerated his transfer business in the past few weeks with the arrivals of Crysencio Summerville, Niclas Fullkrug and Guido Rodriguez. Existing players will need to be moved on to accommodate the new arrivals.

The Hammers’ pursuit of a right-back has been well-documented. The club failed to convince Bayern Munich’s Noussair Mazraoui and have moved their attention to Wan-Bissaka.

Coufal was a regular under David Moyes with 155 appearances for the Hammers across all competitions in the past four years and was a key feature in the Europa Conference League triumph in 2023.

The Czechia international made 47 appearances last season but now potentially finds himself on the fringes under Lopetegui and facing an imminent exit.

He has been a leader for the Irons during his time in East London but at 31, his value will only decrease

If Lopetegui doesn’t see a future for him in the side then a sale would be beneficial for all parties if a new long-term contract is not on the table.

Wan-Bissaka is five years his junior and, despite Coufal’s performances in a West Ham shirt, the move would be a significant upgrade for a side aiming to push for a European spot in the Premier League this season.
