Wolves make ‘staggering’ Kyle Walker-Peters call after transfer developments at West Ham

West Ham United enter 2026 looking to fix many years of transfer mistakes.

Pablo looks set to become January signing number one for West Ham, with the Gil Vicente striker expected in London on Thursday.

Nuno Espirito Santo remains under immense pressure of the sack still, with West Ham four points in the relegation zone behind Nottingham Forest.

It comes after a summer of dreadful spending, with El Hadji Malick Diouf a standout and signings such as Kyle Walker-Peters offering very little so far.

It could still be worse, though, Wolves only have three points.

Wolves in staggering transfer calls

West Ham are in the middle of their worst season in years, yet Burnley and Wolves are still miles behind both on and off the pitch.

Wolves sold players such as Matheus Cunha and Rayan Ait-Nouri in the summer, but failed to replace them when so desperately needed.

One option was Walker-Peters, yet he signed for West Ham after leaving Southampton.

Tom Collomosse of the Daily Mail has said that Wolves’ decision not to even register interest in Walker-Peters, Harry Wilson and David Brooks is “staggering”.

All three players must have been available and even floated to those at Molineux, but it’s been made clear that they were waved away.

How has Walker-Peters performed at West Ham?

In short, not very well.

With Diouf and Aaron Wan-Bissaka away at AFCON, Walker-Peters and Ollie Scarles have taken over in defence, with early struggles already.

Scarles was left in tears after his mistake in the defeat versus Fulham, apologising to fans at the London Stadium, but he bounced back perfectly against Brighton.

In one show of great professionalism, though, Walker-Peters was the only West Ham player to console him, proving he has a valuable place in the squad.

Those are the types of players that Nuno needs in his squad, and someone that Wolves would love to have as they continue to fight for their first win of the season.

Wilson has also gone on to be one of the standouts of the Premier League campaign so far, so maybe it was never a surprise that things are going so poorly at Molineux.

West Ham go there next on Saturday, and hopefully, Walker-Peters can have a massive say on the Irons picking up a huge three points.
