Wolves in last-ditch hunt to sign West Ham United ace Nayef Aguerd
Wolves are interested in West Ham United defender Nayef Aguerd, according to Jacob Steinberg.
The journalist reported via the Guardian’s transfer blog on Thursday (29 August, 11:08 am) that Gary O’Neil’s side want to sign the 28-year-old on loan.
Aguerd has fallen out of favour at the London Stadium and has emerged as a target at Molineux.
As reported by Santi Aouna via X (29 August), Real Sociedad, Villarreal and Al-Ittihad are all also interested in Aguerd.
West Ham United defender Nayef Aguerd to quit the London Stadium and join Wolves?
It seems almost an inevitability at this point that Aguerd will leave the London Stadium before the transfer window shuts on Friday (30 August).
What remains to be seen is where the defender will go. Suddenly, it looks as though he has plenty of choices available to him.
While a big-money move to Al-Ittihad might prove tempting, the chance for the Moroccan to play in Spain could also be hard to resist.
And there is now the possibility that he could remain in the Premier League by sealing a switch to Wolves.
There are so many different options and not much time left for Aguerd to weigh up those options.
However, West Ham will of course have a say too, and if Julen Lopetegui doesn’t see Aguerd as part of his long-term plans, they might not be interested in Wolves’ offer.
That is because it is a loan, and the club might prefer a permanent switch.
