Wilfried Zaha transfer fee update emerges as West Ham United speak out

West Ham United have told Galatasaray that they are “unwilling” to pay a transfer fee for Wilfried Zaha, according to Sporx.

The Turkish outlet outlined on 1 July that this wasn’t met with the happiest of responses from the Super Lig side who are not enthralled by this idea.

The Hammers’ reasoning behind not wanting to pay any sort of fee is due to Zaha’s high wage demands, the report added.

Why West Ham United should go for Wilfried Zaha this summer

The Hammers were initially linked with the 31-year-old back in February [talkSPORT, 16 February]

Since then, the rumours have continued to grow and now the summer transfer window is upon us, the links are more rife than ever.

Plenty of change is afoot at the London Stadium with the additions of Luis Guilherme [The Athletic, 13 June] and Wes Foderingham already being made despite the window being open for less than a month.

One key area that West Ham have seemed to struggle in over the last couple of seasons is their attack.

Although both Jarrod Bowen and Mohammed Kudus had stellar seasons, the Hammers’ number nine Michail Antonio failed to produce much once again.

Danny Ings didn’t fair much better with the former Liverpool man failing to find the form he found at Southampton during the 2019/20 season where the attacker scored 22 Premier League goals.

The addition of Zaha would improve Lopetegui’s hopes of improving on their ninth-placed finish tenfold and would allow for new tactical styles to be tested, if and when needed.
