West Ham United have seen highly-rated young defender Gabriel Rigg leave the Academy of Football for rivals Tottenham Hotspur.
The Hammers are renowned for having one of the best youth systems in English football.
So many top players have emerged from the West Ham production line down the years.
Nuno Espirito Santo's current Irons side boasts a number of the club's own academy talents in and around the first-team squad.
Ezra Mayers, Airidas Golambeckis, Ollie Scarles, Finlay Herrick, Lewis Orford and Josh Ajala are all examples of this.
But even despite a clear pathway from academy to first-team football in E20, not every youngster on their books sees their future with the Hammers.

London is the place to be in English football if you're a talented young player.
The capital is arguably the nation's biggest footballing hotbed, and with so many clubs here, the watching eyes of scouts are never too far away.
One West Ham youngster has evidently had his head turned, too, and is now on the way to pastures new.
As reported by The Talent Hunter via X, highly-thought-of gem Rigg has left West Ham to join rivals Tottenham.
The 15-year-old had been with the Hammers for the last three years, and has been playing up an age group too.
Rigg is detailed as being able to operate at centre-back as well as left-back, and is now ready to write a new chapter with Spurs.
It is the worst move possible as far as West Ham are concerned, with Tottenham a fierce rival.
But why might Rigg view Tottenham as a better opportunity for the coming years of his youth career than staying at West Ham?
How West Ham and Tottenham's youth sides compare recently
With Rigg already playing above his age, he'll already have eyes on both Under-18 and U-21 football in the near future.
West Ham's U-18s haven't been performing great of late, finishing 17th and 13th in their last two Premier League U-18 South seasons.
On the other hand, Tottenham's side in that same division have finished 11th and fourth over the last two terms.
As for the Hammers' U-21s, they slumped from fourth in Premier League 2 in 2024-25 to 13th last season, and are currently winless from their first two games this year.
Meanwhile, Spurs' side won PL2 in 2023-24, and bounced back from a 24th-placed finish in 2024-25 to finish eight last season.
The Lilywhites have won two and drawn one of their opening three games in that league this season too.
As a result, the evidence is there that Rigg could enjoy considerably more success over the coming years with Tottenham's youth sides rather than West Ham's.
