Why Brentford risk wasting everyone's time as West Ham respond to El Hadji Malick Diouf offer
West Ham United have wasted little time in telling Brentford what they make of their offer for El Hadji Malick Diouf.
The full-back was one of the players named most likely to leave West Ham following relegation from the Premier League last season.
Diouf impressed even if the Hammers did go down, leading to talk of top-flight clubs making a move.
So that has proved, with West Ham Zone reporting earlier on Saturday that Brentford had tabled a bid for Diouf.
Brentford have already snapped up Callum Wilson following his London Stadium exit this summer.
But Brentford will not do the same when it comes to signing Diouf.

Diouf would have gathered more admirers at the World Cup as he caught the eye for Senegal.
The 21-year-old is now back in East London ahead of the start of West Ham's campaign in just two weeks' time.
And as per an update from The Standard on Saturday afternoon, Diouf will not be going anywhere this summer.
West Ham are said to have swiftly knocked back Brentford's bid of an undisclosed fee and have no intention of selling for any price.
It is not known whether Brentford will come in with a new offer despite the hands-off warning, but they would only be wasting their time regardless.
West Ham sale stance is now very clear
West Ham have raised closed to £150million through the sales of Crysencio Summerville and Mateus Fernandes.
That means star man Jarrod Bowen, and others one notch down such as Diouf, do not need to be sold.
It has now been made clear that West Ham are looking to retain the players they have while hopefully adding to the squad.
There is always the chance a player can push for a move, of course, but that surely will not be the case for Diouf.
The "exceptional" player, as he was once hailed by Slavia Prague boss Jindrich Trpisovsky, looks set to stick around and play a key part in the Hammers' return to the top flight.
