When Arne Engels will undergo his medical as West Ham agree Celtic deal
Celtic star Arne Engels is set to undergo a medical to sign for West Ham.
The Hammers have been chasing the 22-year-old for a considerable period and look set to get their man after a deal was agreed.
It will vastly improve the quality available to Nuno Espirito Santo in the engine room.
The Belgian notched seven goals and eight assists in 46 matches for the Hoops last season.
He has already managed an assist in his first two matches of the current campaign.
Details about his medical have now emerged, and it seems like a matter of time before his signature is confirmed.
When will Arne Engels medical take place at West Ham?
West Ham have agreed a record-breaking £22million deal to add Engels to their squad, ending their pursuit in a successful manor.
Sky Sports reported on Friday that it will break the Championship record, which is currently held by Ipswich's £17.5m capture of Sindre Walle Egeli.
They claim that the Irons have seen two previous bids for the playmaker rejected by the Glasgow club.
The report stats that his medical will take place in London on 14 August.
How did Engels perform last season?
Engels played 30 matches as Martin O'Neill's side won the Scottish Premiership last season.
He averaged 1.39 shots and 1.88 chances created per 90, per Fotmob data, showing his attacking prowess.
The four-cap international completed 82.7 per cent of his passes, and 1.30 crosses per game.
Defensively, he managed 3.67 contributions per game, with 1.34 tackles, 2.73 recoveries and 1.48 clearances, showing that he willing to help out.
Those numbers suggest he could be very comfortable in the Championship, and become a key part of the E20 side's push for promotion back to the top-flight.
Only time will tell how he will actually adapt, but given his experience north of the border, he is a champion and will hope to repeat that in East London.
The expectation will be that he will perform straight away, given the fee that the Londoners are paying for him.
If he can, he may quickly make himself a fan favourite, and a fixture in Nuno's side in the 2026-27 campaign.
