What's the latest on Aaron Wan-Bissaka's West Ham future and will he be joining Arsenal?

Transfer interest is growing for West Ham United defender Aaron Wan-Bissaka.

The 28-year-old is back with West Ham following his summer to remember at the World Cup.

He played almost every minute for DR Congo as they wrote their tale of being one of the tournament's big surprise packages, going all the way to the round of 32 to just be narrowly beaten by England.

Wan-Bissaka played 355 minutes at the World Cup, including the full 90 minutes against England in the round of 32, and his good performance no doubt helped put his name in the shop window.

Retaining the services of the experienced right-back was always going to be difficult for West Ham following their relegation to the Championship.

But, the latest developments perhaps cast some slight doubt over any imminent exit for the Hammers defender.

West Ham Zone has covered reports suggesting West Ham want around £25million for Wan-Bissaka this summer.

It's this steep asking price that is potentially set to work against the Irons though.

According to a fresh report from the Daily Mail, Serie A giants Lazio are interested in signing Wan-Bissaka before the summer window shuts.

However, it's claimed that the Italians aren't playing in the same transfer valuation ballpark that West Ham are, and thus it may be a case of who blinks first.

Cold water has also been poured on Everton's transfer interest, with the report also claiming that the Toffees are not actively chasing his signature.

The report ends by claiming that Wan-Bissaka is understood to be on Arsenal's transfer shortlist though, which would be a surprise move given he enjoyed a fairly modest individual 2025-26 season with the Hammers.

If he was to sign with Arsenal, would Wan-Bissaka hold realistic starting claims, or would he simply have to accept a backup role with the Premier League champions?

Why Arsenal might see value in Wan-Bissaka deal

We've already seen Arsenal shopping in the market for players with Premier League experience on the cheap this summer, after snapping up ex-Leeds goalkeeper Illan Meslier on a free.

Wan-Bissaka, of course, would command a sizeable price for the Gunners, but he wouldn't be a huge investment either given the size of their spending power.

The West Ham defender has played over 230 times in the Premier League over the course of his career, and he was still solid enough for the Irons last term despite not playing as well as he did in 2024-25.

Arsenal have also had some major injury problems at right-back recently, with Jurrien Timber and Ben White both currently dealing with injury problems.

Mikel Arteta doesn't have too many options behind those two, with Myles Lewis-Skelly more of a left-sided player and Cristhian Mosquera a central defender by trade.

Wan-Bissaka has been able to stay relatively injury-free during his time with West Ham, and so this paired with his Premier League experience could make him an attractive proposition to Arsenal for a relatively inexpensive fee.

And, whilst he might join them initially in a backup role, he'd likely be just an injury/suspension or two away from getting starting opportunities.
