West Ham Women want to sign Tottenham Women defender Shelina Zadorsky, January loan deal on the cards – BBC Sport journalist
West Ham Women want to sign Tottenham Women defender Shelina Zadorsky in January, according to Emma Sanders.
The BBC Sport journalist tweeted on Monday (1 January) that the Hammers are looking to bring the Canadian international in on loan during the transfer window, with her contract due to expire in the summer.
She added that a move to East London would see the 31-year-old centre-back link up again with Irons manager Rehanne Skinner, who she was previously captain under at Spurs.
Signings needed
There is no doubt that West Ham need to bring in some new players during the transfer window on the back of their disappointing start to the campaign.
After showing promise in the first couple of games under Skinner, the Hammers have failed to kick on and find themselves 11th in the WSL table.
They’ve won just one of their 11 matches so far and have been pretty poor defensively, having conceded 21 goals this season.

It’s no surprise, therefore, to see Skinner look to try and bring in her former captain to shore things up at the back ahead of the second half of the campaign.
The pressure has been growing on the Irons boss over the past few weeks and she knows things must change soon if she is to keep her job for much longer.
In other West Ham news, a contract development has emerged on one Hammers player.
