West Ham within weeks of signing striker Freddie Hockey
West Ham are closing in on a deal to sign young striker Freddie Hockey from Chelsmford City, according to ExWHUemployee.
Speaking exclusively to The West Ham Way, the reliable Irons insider has reported that Hockey, 16, has been on trial in the East End and the club “could well complete this signing within a few weeks”.
The former Colchester United academy ace has spent recent years focusing on his education but is now ready to turn his attention towards a career in football.

It’s great to see that West Ham are still doing what they can to strengthen their youth options at the club.
While some supporters may want to see funds spend on adding to the senior side, the money that’s used at this level of youth football is barely even a drop in the ocean so there’s no need to get concerned about that.
There’s not a lot of information out there about Hockey due to his tender age and the fact that he plays for Essex-based Chelmsford City, who play in the National League South.
However, he seems like a young lad who’s got his priorities in order and did really well at school before deciding to press on with his playing career.
If West Ham sign him, then that will no doubt be a massive boost for the young centre-forward, who’ll have his eyes on playing for the Hammers’ first team in the future.
We need a striker for David Moyes’ first-team and while Hockey definitely isn’t that, he’s someone who we may see donning the famous number nine shirt for us in the future if all goes well for the young lad.
Good luck, Freddie.
In other West Ham news, a Sky Sports journalist claims the Irons want to sign this “powerful” Swiss star.
