West Ham watch Sheffield United gem as PSR concerns laid bare
West Ham are keen on reducing the average age of their squad, and have a young prospect lined up for a summer transfer.
Graham Potter is aiming to rebuild the squad after a disappointing season, and several ageing players have been let go and will need replacing.
West Ham are aiming to recruit younger talents, and could now go shopping in the Championship for their next move.
Sheffield United missed out on Premier League promotion after losing the play-off final, and the Hammers could now take full advantage.

West Ham eye up Sydie Peck deal
West Ham are scouting several players, but they will need to sell to buy as their profit and sustainability status is a poor one, and Mohammed Kudus is among those linked with a big-money exit.
The Hammers will aim to sign younger players rather than big-name players like they have in recent years, and are now eyeing up Sheffield United star Sydie Peck.
The 20-year-old featured regularly for the Blades in the Championship, and could be a long-term option at the base of midfield.

The Guardian (9 June) have now reported that West Ham have scouted Peck alongside other young Championship talents, but their PSR concerns may present a problem.
Peck made 47 appearances across all competitions for Sheffield United this season, and could be ready to make the step up to the Premier League.

West Ham’s PSR concerns an obstacle this summer
It is also reported that West Ham’s recruitment team have been informed that there is little wiggle room in the transfer market this summer, with years of poor signings now coming back to bite.
West Ham would have to sell a big asset such as Kudus to ease the situation, but even then, they will struggle to spend as much as they did in previous years.
Younger players such as Peck will be targeted given the lack of legs in midfield, but getting deals over the line will be a problem for West Ham, which is why Championship prospects are being targeted rather than Premier League-proven senior stars.
