West Ham want to sign Youssef En-Nesyri in new transfer update
West Ham will return with their efforts to sign Sevilla striker Youssef En-Nesyri, after unsuccessful attempts to sign the Moroccan in January, according to Estadio Deportivo.
The Spanish news outlet reported via its website on 24 July that West Ham will try to sign the striker following their recent gain of £105million from the sale of Declan Rice, as they look to strengthen their squad in his absence.
It was reported in January by the Daily Mail that West Ham were keen on the striker, with Sevilla setting a price tag of £35million for his services – a fee which the East London club were ultimately unwilling to meet. It was revealed on 22 July that the Moroccan would be available for transfer this summer.

An interesting option
West Ham’s long-term pursuit of En-Nesyri is an interesting one. He is clearly a talented and capable striker, with brilliant link-up play and the ability to bring others into play, but his goal-scoring record is a spotty one.
Last season, the striker managed just eight goals in 31 La Liga appearances, while four goals in the Europa League, four in the Copa del Rey and two in the Champions League give the forward a record of 18 in 48 appearances across all competitions.
En Nesyri’s most impressive displays in front of goal came in the 2020/21 season when he managed 18 league goals from 38 games, but scored just five in the next league season.

At the 2022 World Cup, En Nesyri played a part in helping his side reach the semi-finals where they lost to France, although he managed just three shots on target from seven starts.
The goals seem to have dried up for the Moroccan, and while his all-round game would still be a benefit to West Ham, they would be better to target outright goalscorers this season to add to their low tally of just 23 open-play goals last season [stats from WhoScored.com].
