West Ham want to sign Sheffield Wednesday starlet Bailey Cadamarteri – report
West Ham United are interested in making a move for Sheffield Wednesday’s young star Bailey Cadamarteri this summer, according to the Star.
The 17-year-old has been talking to his boyhood club for several weeks now. However, as things stand, nothing has been finalized on the teenager’s Sheffield career.
Sheffield Wednesday manager Darren Moore has spoken highly of Cadamarteri who has been making headlines in the junior setup, with the Irons also interested back in January.
The Hammers are one of the clubs that are showing interest in the 17-year-old along with the likes of Brentford.
With no professional terms yet to be signed, Premier League clubs will be sniffing around with only compensation due to be paid if a move happens under these circumstances.
Bright Young Talent
David Moyes has a history of nurturing young players from the lower English setup. You only need to look at what he did with the likes of Wayne Rooney at Everton.
Similarly, we can also see the evolution of Declan Rice at West Ham, who has become a regular starter for the England National Team. If Cadamarteri comes to West Ham, he may have a similar kind of fate written for him.
In the FA Youth Cup 2021-22, he scored a goal in the only game against Burton Albion. With the kind of maturity he has already shown in the striker’s position, we may have another Marcus Rashford story to tell to the world in the years to come.
The best thing about Cadamarteri is his awareness in front of goal. He plays the striker’s role like a game of chess in which he already expects what the opponent defenders would do and adjusts accordingly.
Considering West Ham are playing in the UEFA Europa Conference League next season, they would need everyone within their squad. This might give youngsters like Cadamarteri a chance to express themselves in the first team.
