West Ham want to sign Nabil Fekir from Manuel Pellegrini’s Real Betis

West Ham could raid Manuel Pellegrini’s Real Betis for their World-Cup winning playmaker Nabil Fekir, according to Spanish online news outlet Fichajes.

It is claimed that the Irons, alongside Arsenal and Everton, are interested in signing the French playmaker after his impressive form since signing from Lyon in 2019.

The 27-year-old is in advanced negotiations with Betis over renewing his current deal, but it is said that a “powerful financial offer” could see the “sensational” [Peter Rutzler, The Athletic] attacker exit the La Liga club.

Too many cooks spoil the broth…

This seems a pretty bizarre link given West Ham’s wealth of attacking talent behind Michail Antonio.

Sure, David Moyes needs a new centre-forward to assist and deputise for Antonio, but behind him, he has plenty of options.

Jarrod Bowen, Pablo Fornals and Said Benrahma are the favoured trio behind the 31-year-old, while Nikola Vlasic, Andriy Yarmolenko and Manuel Lanzini are also waiting in the wings.

Fekir wouldn’t be suited to playing the number nine role for the Irons, so surely he is not needed at this present time?

Arguably, he would compete for a starting spot with Fornals, but it seems like an expensive move when there are more pressing areas for concern, notably at centre-forward and in the middle of midfield.
