West Ham want to sign Kevin Danso with £20.7m transfer on the cards
West Ham United are interested in signing Kevin Danso from RC Lens during the January transfer window, according to CaughtOffside.
The outlet reported via their website on 5 January that the Irons could move to sign the defender, who Lens could sell for around £20.7-24.9million this month.
Newcastle, though, are showing the “strongest” interest in the former Southampton ace, while Wolves are also in the mix.
Danso is also of interest to Bayern Munich, Inter Milan, Roma, Villarreal and Fenerbahce.
West Ham to bolster defence with Kevin Danso
The Hammers spent over £100m on new signings in the summer transfer window. A significant amount of that money went into strengthening their defence, with Max Kilman, Aaron Wan-Bissaka and Jean-Clair Todibo roped in.
However, things have clearly not gone according to plan at the London Stadium as Julen Lopetegui’s side sit 13th in the Premier League. They are only eight points above 18th-placed Ipswich Town, who also have played a game fewer.
West Ham, therefore, need to bolster their ranks further during the January transfer window if they want to stay clear of the relegation zone and defence is an area they could look to improve.
There have been suggestions that Todibo is not happy in East London after getting into an altercation with Lopetegui during the 5-2 loss against Arsenal in November.

Although they are said to have put their differences aside [GiveMeSport], the Spanish tactician could certainly do with some added competition at the heart of the defence.
The East London club’s interest in Danso is not new as they were also linked with a move for the 26-year-old in the summer.
