West Ham want to sign Juventus star Aaron Ramsey

West Ham are interested in signing Juventus star Aaron Ramsey, according to Calcio Mercato.

The Wales international has two years remaining on his contract and at 31 he is believed to be a burden for Juventus, rather than a player of value.

Because of that, the Italian giants are keen to sell, and could accept an offer of €15million [£12.8million] for the midfielder.

The Irons and Crystal Palace are believed to have tested the ground about a transfer, and it appears Ramsey’s wages of €7million a year [£115,000 a week] could be a problem.

Another Lingard?

Ramsey’s career has stuttered a little since moving to Serie A and it would not be surprising to see him move in the summer.

He has just 13 starts this season in the league and a return of two goals and four assists.

While not awful, he is not playing to his full capacity, much like Jesse Lingard at Manchester United over the last 18 months.

West Ham

Lingard has looked rejuvenated from day one under David Moyes, who has the England star playing with confidence and swagger once more.

It is possible Moyes could do the same for Ramsey, to give him the belief to score goals and return to the “awesome” form he showed at Arsenal [Unai Emery, via Goal].

Ramsey is a complete midfielder and an ability to offer an attacking threat from deep means he would be great for West Ham.

Tomas Soucek provides a threat from set-pieces but his goals have dried up and Declan Rice is practically non-existent as an attacking entity.

Ramsey would provide goals from midfield and tonnes of European experience in the middle of the park, which could prove valuable for us over the next few years.
