West Ham want to sign Jon Moncayola from Osasuna
West Ham are in the hunt to sign Osasuna midfielder Jon Moncayola this summer, according to a report from AS.
The 23-year-old has a release clause of €12million [£10.3million] so it may not cost the Hammers too much to prise him away.
However, Watford, Crystal Palace and Atalanta are also keen on the Spaniard, so they could scupper West Ham’s chances of landing a deal.
Moncayola made 36 appearances in La Liga this season, scoring twice, while achieving 1.7 tackles per game, according to WhoScored.
Hidden gem
West Ham may now be able to attract big names to the club due to Europa League football but our budget means we may have to chase lesser-known players like Moncayola.
The fact Jesse Lingard, Tammy Abraham and Danny Ings have been linked is positive, but even signing two out of the three represents a big outlay.
Spending a little over £10million on Moncayola could be very sensible bsuiness.
He could add to our depth in central midfield, which is sorely lacking, and learn from the likes of Mark Noble and Tomas Soucek.
As well as being strong in the tackle, Moncayola also makes good use of the ball with 82% pass accuracy.
His seven caps for Spain under-21s show he is highly rated, and now could be the chance to land him for a bargain fee before he becomes more recognised.
