West Ham want to sign Harvey Elliott as Aston Villa agreement faces collapse

West Ham are reportedly interested in signing Harvey Elliott, with uncertainty mounting over his future at Aston Villa.

Nuno Espirito Santo wants to add extra quality to his side in the upcoming transfer window, as West Ham still face a threat of relegation.

Elliott was linked with West Ham in the summer, but instead was loaned out to Aston Villa, who have an obligation to buy him from Liverpool for £35m, based on conditional clauses.

Recent reports suggest that the 22-year-old is a long-term target and that the Hammers could make a move in 2026.

West Ham see Harvey Elliott as a 2026 summer transfer target

West Ham have had attacking issues this year, and it’s clear to see that a striker is needed in January.

However, Jarrod Bowen’s future is unclear, and there have been suggestions that the skipper could leave E20 next year, which is where Elliott could fit into things.

According to page 65 of the Sunday Mirror’s print edition, West Ham want to be kept informed of Elliott’s situation.

The Irons see the playmaker as a target for the 2026 summer transfer window, with Elliott able to return to Liverpool in January if all parties reach an agreement, as RB Leipzig are also interested.

West Ham moving for the Englishman next summer could be a smart move, given his market value is likely to have dropped.

The Hammers can take confidence in a potential move for Elliott after hearing what Jurgen Klopp had to say about the attacker.

Jurgen Klopp loved Harvey Elliott

Elliott was trusted by Klopp at Liverpool, and it’s only been since Arne Slot’s arrival that the player has seen a decline in minutes.

The versatile forward was restricted to just two starts for the Reds during their 2024-25 title-winning season under Slot, but his former German head coach thought highly of him.

In 2022, Klopp said, as quoted by Liverpool World: “First and foremost, he [Elliott] is a wonderfully raised boy.

“He is young as well, and when you see him playing as well, you think ‘Wow’ for a 19-year-old. That’s Harvey – a real talent.”

There’s no doubt over Elliott’s quality, and Klopp’s words will help in giving the Hammers an easy decision to make if a deal becomes available.

The best-case scenario for the Irons is that Elliott continues to struggle for minutes, allowing West Ham to sign him at a reduced price next year.
