West Ham want to sign Fulham winger Fabio Carvalho amid contract impasse

West Ham are among a clutch of European clubs that are eyeing up 18-year-old Fulham winger Fabio Carvalho, according to the Daily Mail.

The Portuguese teen sensation, who scored on his full Premier League debut in May against Southampton, is wanted by West Ham, Leeds United, Norwich City and Porto after rejecting a new contract at Craven Cottage.

Carvalho, who plays his international football for England at youth level, has entered the final year of his Fulham deal and the Cottagers must now weigh up whether to cash in on one of their prized assets amid a contract impasse.

Already making waves

Carvalho showed glimpses of his potential last season, but he looks set for a big role at Fulham if he stays on for the 2021/22 campaign.

Despite the speculation hanging over his head, Carvalho was named by Marco Silva in the Fulham starting line-up for their Championship opener versus Middlesbrough on Sunday afternoon.

He immediately sprung to life, turning in a dazzling first half display that left the Sky Sports commentators purring during live coverage of the clash [08/08/21].

Don Goodman called him “brilliant” while Gary Weaver detailed the teenager’s desire to win the Ballon d’Or during his career.

Perhaps he wouldn’t be one that would be thrust straight into the West Ham first team with some strong competition in the attacking areas, but on the basis of his Premier League goal last season and his display today, he is a confident player and is aiming to reach the top as soon as possible.

With his contractual uncertainty at Fulham, he’s certainly a player the Irons should be looking to make a cut-price move for.
