West Ham want to sign £18m Keane Lewis-Potter from Hull – report

West Ham are set to open talks with Hull City over 21-year-old winger Keane Lewis-Potter in a potential £18m deal, according to The Athletic.

Hammers boss David Moyes has already watched the Championship ace this season [ExWHUemployee] and is interested in doing business with the club again after signing Jarrod Bowen in 2020.

Now according to The Athletic, the England Under-21 international is being tracked by both West Ham and Brentford over a deal for this summer.

Lewis-Potter has scored 12 goals and registered four assists in 46 appearances this season for Hull in all competitions.

The Irons are keen to bolster their attacking options after being forced to rely heavily on Bowen and Michail Antonio for goals and assists this season, and see the young attacker as a good option.

Coachable

One thing Moyes loves when making signings is ensuring that he can coach them and that they have room to improve under him, something that Lewis-Potter certainly has.

£18m may seem like a high price for someone who only broke into the first-team a couple of seasons ago and has never played in the top flight.

But when you consider the price of some teenagers in the game today who have a high ceiling, it could represent a bargain if he performs well just like Bowen has done.

He wouldn’t demand big wages, wouldn’t expect to play every game and would fit in well with the relatively young squad and type of character that is currently in the dressing room.

Described as a ‘special talent‘ by then Hull boss Grant McCann back in 2020, his profile fits well and he’d boost the attacking options with his pace and eye for goal. Another shrewd bit of business from the boss if it comes off.
