West Ham want to re-sign Craig Dawson as Wolves make sale decision
West Ham United are interested in re-signing Craig Dawson from Wolves to boost their defensive options, according to TBR Football.
The news outlet’s report (31 January) claims Dawson is high on the list at the London Stadium to slot back in, with Graham Potter having travelled to Aston Villa last Sunday (26 January) with just one available central defender in Max Kilman.
Konstantinos Mavropanos is now ready again after suspension but the Hammers want another defensive boost, with Dawson having ended his previously successful stint in East London by lifting the Conference League trophy under David Moyes.
Moyes described Dawson in 2022 (via Hammers.News, 15 April 2022) as a player who “wowed” him with his resilience, and it is likely Potter shares that opinion given the hopes for him to make a return.
West Ham pursuit of Dawson return depends on Wolves
Dawson is likely to be open to a return to the London Stadium, where he was adored as a surprisingly sturdy option at the heart of the defence following his move from Watford.
The 34-year-old’s future does however depend on current club Wolves, with whom his contract expires in the summer and he has not enjoyed a great deal of match action in recent weeks with slight injuries.
Wolves have prioritised defensive reinforcements this month having conceded a whopping 52 goals this season as they sit inside the relegation places.

Emmanuel Agbadou has arrived at Molineux from Stade Reims but Vitor Pereira wants another defender through the door before allowing Dawson to leave.
While the Hammers may be in pursuit of both a striker and a midfielder, a defender would also be very welcome and a tried and tested option could be just the ticket.
