West Ham want Filip Jorgensen transfer after Liam Rosenior latest at Stamford Bridge

Nuno Espirito Santo has set his sights on signing Chelsea goalkeeper Filip Jorgensen.

Alphonse Areola has come in for significant criticism for his performances in the West Ham goal this season, and now Nuno appears to be looking for a new number one.

Meanwhile, Mads Hermansen could also be leaving West Ham this month, after interest from Serie A giants Lazio has emerged.

Hermansen quickly fell out of favour at the London Stadium, and at 25, he may well not want to waste his upcoming prime years not playing.

Lukasz Fabianski has been out injured since mid-November, and the Hammers’ only other goalkeeper is 23-year-old Krisztian Hegyi, who has never made a first-team appearance.

West Ham may have to work for Filip Jorgensen deal

With all the aforementioned situations in mind, the future of West Ham’s goalkeeping position looks unclear to say the least.

Fabianski is 40 and out of contract this summerAreola hasn’t convinced enough this season. Hermansen may well have had his head turned, and Hegyi looks some way off being ready to claim the number one shirt.

So, a new shot-stopper appears to be on West Ham’s transfer agenda in the remaining two weeks of the transfer window, and they look to have honed in on their man.

As per The Guardian on Thursday, West Ham are said to have registered their interest in Jorgensen.

However, it’s also stated that Chelsea are unlikely to sanction a move for their back-up goalkeeper, with the Blues only having Gaga Slonina as cover behind Robert Sanchez if Jorgensen were to leave.

Jorgensen’s 2025-26 stats don’t paint convincing picture

West Ham have to find upgrades in the transfer market this month, and Jorgensen’s numbers across all competitions so far this season don’t do much to suggest he would fall into that category.

As per FotMob, his save percentages across each competition in 2025-26 are as follows: Premier League (50 per cent), FA Cup (66.7 per cent), Carabao Cup (50 per cent), Champions League (N/A) and FIFA Club World Cup (N/A) respectively.

Therefore, his best save percentage comes in the FA Cup, but even that was just 66.7 per cent in a 5-1 win over Charlton – Liam Rosenior’s first game in charge as Chelsea manager.

At 23, he is still young and has room for improvement, but with West Ham needing to sign players who can come in and make an immediate impact in their relegation fight, Jorgensen doesn’t have the profile of being a player who could be relied upon to provide that.
