West Ham United: Wolves plotting late January move for Danny Ings as transfer update emerges

Wolves could make a move to sign West Ham outcast Danny Ings on loan later on in the January transfer window, according to The Athletic.

The news outlet reported on its website on Saturday (6 January) that the Hammers’ Premier League rivals are monitoring the 31-year-old’s situation at the London Stadium.

But it added that there has so far been no club-to-club contact over the English forward, who the Midlands club tried to sign from Aston Villa in January 2023 before he made the switch to East London.

Time to go

There wouldn’t be too many people associated with West Ham that would be disappointed to see the back of Ings during this transfer window.

The forward had previously shown over a number of years that he is more than capable of scoring plenty of goals at Premier League level, but it just hasn’t happened for him at the London Stadium.

He’s really struggled to fit into David Moyes’s system and have much of an impact when his opportunities have come around, having registered just three goals and two assists in 39 appearances.

It wouldn’t be a surprise to see him go elsewhere and score goals for another club, but it’s certainly time for him to move on from the Hammers to allow us to get someone else in who could strengthen our attacking options.

While it is just a loan move that is being mooted, it’s hard to imagine him ever playing for the club again if he does leave in any form during this window.

Now we just need to make sure it happens.
