West Ham United want Victor Nelsson transfer as Galatasaray crisis emerges

Victor Nelsson wants to leave Galatasaray in January or next summer amid interest from West Ham United, according to Takvim.

The Turkish newspaper reported via its website on 5 November that the centre-back has rejected a new contract offer from Galatasaray and is keen to move elsewhere in search of regular playing time.

This has put West Ham on red alert, while Sevilla, Bologna and Lille also track the Dane’s situation in Istanbul, with a “Crisis” mooted.

The Irons’ interest in Nelsson is not new as they were linked with a move for him in the summer (The Guardian).

However, it remains to be seen if they will step up their interest in the Denmark international this time, with a January exit from Galatasaray possible.

It is worth noting that the Hammers added two new centre-backs to their ranks in the summer: Max Kilman and Jean-Clair Todibo.

With Konstantinos Mavropanos the only other senior central defender and Julen Lopetegui switching to a back three, it would make sense for the East London outfit to sign another centre-back.

The Irons, though, may prioritise signing a new striker in the January transfer window, with Niclas Fullkrug still sidelined due to fitness issues.

Lopetegui reportedly wants to add a new centre-forward to his ranks as he looks to turn things around at the club and save his job (The Times).

In other West Ham news, Jose Mourinho has been tipped to be interested in taking the reins at the London Stadium amid uncertainty around Lopetegui.
