West Ham United want to sign striker Elye Wahi as Lopetegui decision emerges
West Ham United are interested in signing Elye Wahi from Lens this summer as Julen Lopetegui looks set to use a one-striker formation next season, according to The Athletic.
Roshane Thomas has reported (12 July) that the Spaniard “plans on playing a lone striker” by utilising a 4-2-3-1 or 4-3-3 system in his debut campaign at the London Stadium.
This could see the Hammers move to sign a new striker this summer with them weighing up a move for Wahi from Ligue 1.
Last season, the Frenchman assisted the equaliser before scoring the winner in a Champions League group stage win against Arsenal in October.

The Hammers are in need of a striker and it appears that a deal for one is one of Lopetegui’s priorities in the transfer window.
The Spaniard currently has Michail Antonio and Danny Ings available to him, although the Englishman has been linked with a move away.
As the new Premier League season gets closer, the need to bring in a new forward gets more important with multiple targets being considered.
Tim Steidten has to get it right after years of poor striker signings which have been costly mistakes for the Hammers.
Gianluca Scamacca and Sebastien Haller have both gone on to have positive spells away from the London Stadium after not performing in England.
Wahi has European experience where he scored three goals in the Champions and Europa League last campaign.

The 21-year-old would certainly bring pace to the front line at the London Stadium with his finishing being one of his key strengths.
It is unclear as to how much the Frenchman would cost but there is no doubt that he could prove to be a positive signing.
