West Ham United want to sign Ibrahim Adel after post-Brexit rule change, Mo Salah recommended him to Liverpool
West Ham are one of a number of clubs interested in signing Egyptian winger Ibrahim Adel after a change in post-Brexit work permit rules, according to 90min.
Adel is currently playing for Pyramids in his homeland but has been subject to interest from Belgian giants Anderlecht recently after he was crowned player of the tournament at the recent Under-23 AFCON tournament.
But after the points system for work permits was relaxed recently, several Premier League clubs are interested in signing the 22-year-old including the Hammers.
“Adel’s new found eligibility is understood to have piqued the interest of a number of Premier League and Championship clubs, with sources telling 90min that Chelsea and Newcastle are among those to have expressed an interest, alongside Brighton, Brentford, Aston Villa, West Ham, Burnley and Southampton,” they wrote (11 July).
Mohamed Salah previously recommended Adel to Liverpool, although they didn’t follow up on their interest.
Talent
There’s clearly a lot of talent in this young player and there’s a reason that so many clubs are interested in him.
But when a host of clubs are listed as being interested in a deal, it’s usually the work of agents leaking stories in order to generate more interest and try to get some bids in for their client.

The fact Salah rates the player so highly and has recommended him means there will be plenty of pressure wherever he ends up, but it seems unlikely that will be the London Stadium.
We’re not really in need of up-and-coming attacking players considering the age range of our squad, and our priorities are clearly on bringing in established forwards and midfielders.
It’s certainly one to keep an eye on because you never know if it will happen or not, but West Ham would be an interesting destination considering the current options we have and a lack of game time that would be on offer.
