West Ham United want to sign Genoa Albert Gudmundsson, bid submitted – Gianluca Di Marzio
West Ham United have made a bid for Genoa ace Albert Gudmundsson after his form this season, according to Gianluca Di Marzio.
Writing on his website (9 January), the reliable Italian journalist reports that the winger has been noticed by the Hammers after hitting eight goals and registering two assists in 17 games this season.
In fact, West Ham made a bid to sign the Icelandic international but saw their attempts rejected and the Serie A club are not interested in doing a deal.

“West Ham noticed Gudmundsson ‘s excellent performance and also made a move for him,” he wrote.
“Genoa, however, rejected every attempt by the London club.
“West Ham are interested in Albert Gudmundsson, a true protagonist of the first part of the championship. The Icelander is Genoa’s top scorer and so far has been among the best in Serie A in his role.
“Precisely for this reason, however, Genoa are not willing to give up Gudmundsson and have in fact blocked West Ham’s attempt in the bud.”
Ouch
West Ham are in the market for a new attacking player after huge issues were encountered with the fitness of Lucas Paqueta, Jarrod Bowen and Michail Antonio.
Gudmundsson isn’t a name that is very widely known across the football world but his form this season has been sensational so it’s no surprise that clubs are paying attention.

With Tim Steidten at the helm for transfers now his speciality of uncovering gems and bringing them in, this is the type of signing that Hammers fans should get accustomed to.
January seems unlikely for a deal to happen considering their stance, but it’s one to keep an eye on ahead of the summer window potentially.
Paqueta has a release clause that becomes active which could be a problem, so it could be that the club are just planning ahead for potential replacements if they’re needed.
