West Ham United want to sign Evan Ferguson as Brighton exit update emerges

West Ham are one of the teams interested in signing Brighton’s wantaway striker Evan Ferguson, according to TBR Football.

The online source reported [26 November] that the 20-year-old has grown frustrated by his lack of game time at the American Express Stadium, with the Seagulls now green-lighting a loan exit in January.

It is understood that the Hammers will face competition from Scotland duo Celtic and Rangers as well as Southampton, Leicester City and Fulham.

West Ham United to sign unhappy Evan Ferguson in January?

Julen Lopetegui is in desperate need of a new striker, and Tim Steidten will be under tremendous pressure to please the fans once the January transfer window opens.

Niclas Fullkrug has turned out to be one of the worst signings of the summer transfer window, having played four times before suffering an injury, which has kept him out since September.

In his absence, Lopetegui has kept the faith in Michail Antonio, who has only notched one goal and one assist, while Danny Ings only ever appears off the bench.

With the amount of surrounding talent in the likes of Jarrod Bowen, Lucas Paqueta and Crysencio Summerville, plus Mohammed Kudus once he returns from suspension, a striker should not struggle for goals.

While Ferguson only has one goal to his name this season, there is clearly something going on behind the scenes after scoring six times in 27 appearances last term.

The 20-year-old is one of the most talented young strikers in the Premier League but he continues to be used as a substitute, with Danny Welbeck and Joao Pedro up front for Fabian Hurzeler.

A temporary escape to the London Stadium could be the perfect solution for all parties involved, though the Hammers will face a battle for his signature once the transfer window opens.
