West Ham United want to sign Chelsea defender Trevoh Chalobah on one condition
West Ham United want to sign Chelsea defender Trevoh Chalobah this month, but only if Nayef Aguerd leaves according to talkSPORT.
Writing in their live transfer blog (9 January, 12:06pm), the news outlet report that the 24-year-old has been told he is free to leave Stamford Bridge after not making an appearance this season under Mauricio Pochettino.
Bayern Munich are also said to be interested but the Hammers could look to keep him in London, but only if Morocco international Aguerd leaves amid interest from Saudi Arabia.

“Chelsea defender Trevor Chalobah could be a possible option for West Ham in January, talkSPORT understands,” they wrote.
“That’s if the Hammers part ways with Moroccan centre-back Nayef Aguerd. And he is free to depart Stamford Bridge this month after being told he can leave.
“Despite being linked to Bayern Munich, he could remain in London with the 24-year-old to potentially come on West Ham’s radar.
“But that will only happen if Aguerd, who is an option for Saudi clubs, exits the London Stadium.”
Interesting
There is a lot of talk about Aguerd potentially leaving West Ham this month despite him being first-choice alongside Kurt Zouma and it’s quite hard to understand.
Currently he is away at the African Cup of Nations with Morocco, so a deal would surely be tough for him to complete anyway. But on top of that, he’s been good for the majority of his time at the club.

Yes he has looked a bit shaky at times, but letting him go would be a weird decision when you don’t really know how any replacement would come in and settle in.
If the plan is for Dinos Mavropanos to take over as the first-choice option then you can argue it’s a downgrade, but also why would Chalobah move from Chelsea to West Ham just to continue not playing regularly?
It’s a weird situation in general but Chalobah is a talent, so it’s clear the club are planning for the potential exit of Aguerd whether they want it to happen or not.
