West Ham United want to sign Burnley defender Jordan Beyer as London Stadium transfer news emerges

West Ham are in the hunt to sign Burnley defender Jordan Beyer, according to talkSPORT.

The radio station reported via their website on Friday (1 December) that the Clarets are “anticipating” interest in the 23-year-old centre-back, who was instrumental in their Championship title-winning season last term.

Burnley signed Beyer permanently after impressing while on loan from Borussia Monchengladbach but it is understood that a Turf Moor exit route is on the cards with West Ham, Crystal Palace, Fulham and clubs in the Bundesliga showing an interest.

Steidten influence

West Ham’s technical director Tim Steidten is likely to have a big say in any potential move for Beyer due to his expertise on the German transfer market.

While Beyer has been playing in England for almost a year and a half now at Burnley, he’s still someone who emerged in the Bundesliga and won caps for every youth level of the German national team from Under-16s to Under-21s.

Is he a potential Germany senior international? He’s on the right trajectory, at least, and Steidten would be doing well to try and line up the Burnley centre-half in 2024.

Burnley are unlikely to sell him in January because he’s a vital player in Vincent Kompany’s squad and losing him would be another nail in the coffin for their relegation back to the Championship.

He was hailed for an “excellent” season at Turf Moor in the second tier by Carlton Palmer [FLW] and as he’s still fairly young, he should grow into a more complete Premier League defender over the years.

We’d be happy to see Steidten and David Moyes come together to complete this signing, which would be one being made with the next few years possibly in mind.

In other West Ham news, David Sullivan has sanctioned a £75million sale.
