West Ham United want to sign Bazoumana Toure as £8m+ transfer update drops

West Ham United are one of the teams leading the race to sign Hammarby winger Bazoumana Toure, according to Fotbollskanalen.

The Swedish source reported [24 October] that the Hammers are facing competition from Aston Villa and Wolves, with Brighton, Atletico Madrid and Bayer Leverkusen also showing concrete interest.

It is understood, as per Fotboll Direkt [25 September] that Hammarby want to receive around £8.3million (€10million) for the 18-year-old, who is being watched by clubs from all over Europe.

West Ham United to sign Swedish teenager?

The young Ivorian winger has six goals and two assists in 20 matches so far this season, having started 18 of Hammarby’s 27 league matches to date.

Sweden’s top division seems to produce and develop many exciting talents, and Toure looks to be the next big thing, with multiple European clubs interested.

If the Hammers are to beat the other clubs to Toure’s signature, they will likely have to at least meet the £8.3million asking price, especially to pip the likes of Villa, Athletic and Leverkusen.

In addition to this, Julen Lopetegui already has an 18-year-old winger at his disposal in Luis Guilherme, but with only four senior minutes to his name to date, he has done little to impress.

While the 18-year-old is already impressing on the international stage, starring for Ivory Coast Under-21s earlier this year, Lopetegui has other problems to solve before buying the next generation of talents.

The winger positions are also the least of the Hammers’ worries right now, with Niclas Fullkrug’s injury setbacks continuing and leaving Lopetegui with Michail Antonio and Danny Ings up front.

With Lopetegui’s side just five points above the relegation zone after eight matches, it could take a lot of persuading to draw Toure to the London Stadium either in January or in the summer transfer window.

In other West Ham news, Julen Lopetegui simply must start an “outstanding” ace after recent controversy at the London Stadium.
