West Ham United want to sign AZ Alkmaar striker Vangelis Pavlidis

West Ham United want to sign AZ Alkmaar striker sensation Vangelis Pavlidis in January ahead of Premier League rivals, according to HITC.

Writing on their website (9 January), the news outlet report that the current Eredivisie top scorer with 18 goals in 16 games has been scouted by the Hammers as well as Crystal Palace and Fulham in recent months.

And a January move is on the cards with David Moyes looking to bolster his attacking options as Danny Ings and Michail Antonio look to be falling down the pecking order.

West Ham

“AZ Alkmaar striker Vangelis Pavlidis has been scouted by Premier League trio West Ham United, Crystal Palace and Fulham with a January move potentially on the cards,” they wrote.

“West Ham United, Crystal Palace and Fulham all have Vangelis Pavlidis among their list of January targets, having sent scouts to watch the talented centre-forward in action over the last two months.”

Dutch bound

The Dutch top flight has been very kind to West Ham in recent months, bringing the team both Edson Alvarez and Mohammed Kudus from Ajax who have both hit the ground running.

So it’s no surprise to see the Hammers go back to the well to find more solutions to their problems, and Pavlidis is currently the best goalscorer in the division.

West Ham

Ex-Ajax striker Nikos Machlas has dubbed the Greek international as “very complete” and if he can come to the Premier League and maintain that form he would certainly help cure the issues at the London Stadium right now.

Jarrod Bowen is doing a great job up front but he is far better coming in off the right wing, so getting a proper a number nine in would help to facilitate that and also get Mohammed Kudus and Lucas Paqueta into their preferred positions also.

It’s one to keep an eye on if the deal is right, and if the club can find a way to shift Ings early in the window then it could be to set this deal up.
