West Ham United want to sign Ardon Jashari in January, scouts watching him
West Ham United want to sign young Switzerland midfielder Ardon Jashari in January, according to a report by Corriere Dello Sport (30 November).
Writing on their website, the news outlet report that the 21-year-old has attracted the attention of the Hammers and Villarreal who have both sent scouts to watch him.
Jashari is under contract at Swiss club FC Luzern until 2026 and is in contention to be part of the squad for the European Championships this summer, which could see his price rise with good performances.

“Jashari came close to reaching Serie A, and he continues to be one of the most promising Swiss midfielders,” they wrote.
“14 appearances as a starter in the Super League: he scored at Basel , Lausanne and Grasshoppers. He wears the number 6 shirt. He has a contract that expires in 2026.
“West Ham and Villarreal are courting him. Coach Murat Yakin has already tried it on the national team. Jashari is in the running for a place in the squad for the European Championships.”
Depth
Jashari certainly isn’t ready to come into the West Ham team in midfield and command a place in the starting lineup, but he can provide quality depth and grow into a regular starter.
At 21 he is nowhere near the finished article and as a more attack-minded midfielder, he has got a lot of competition for places in his position.

But Pablo Fornals is out of contract in the summer, Lucas Paqueta is being targeted by Manchester City, Tomas Soucek and James Ward-Prowse will both turn 30 during the 204/25 campaign and that means opportunities will arise for him.
Getting him signed in January would also mean that if he has a good European Championships tournament with Switzerland in the summer we won’t be suddenly priced out of a move as has happened in the past with players.
It could be a shrewd bit of business and while it doesn’t need to be a priority, it’s definitely one to watch as the window approaches.
