West Ham United want to sign AC Milan winger Alexis Saelemaekers in loan-to-buy deal
West Ham want to sign AC Milan winger Alexis Saelemaekers in a loan-to-buy deal this summer for the right-wing position, according to Sacha Tavolieri.
Writing on his personal Twitter account (12 August), the Belgian journalist reports that Real Betis have made a move for the Belgium international and that a move to Spain appeals to him.
However he also mentions West Ham as an interested party, although he explains that the 24-year-old is part of an “expanded list” of targets for the right-winger position.
“Real Betis are interested in Alexis Saelemaekers as part of a loan with option to buy, a destination that appeals to the Belgian,” he wrote.
“The player is also part of an expanded list at West Ham United for the right-winger position.
“AC Milan is still trying to find a solution for the right winger.
“Nothing is fixed yet. More info soon…”
Interesting
We all know that winger is a position that David Moyes wants to strengthen in this summer after strong links to Harvey Barnes and Carlos Borges resulted in nothing.
But both of those players tend to play on the left wing while Saelaemaekers is more of a right winger, which suggests there could be a change of role for Jarrod Bowen or more than one signing coming in.

Bowen’s position as a starting player is surely safe for as long as he continues to perform, but this will provide some much needed depth and competition so that if he does start to fall away he gets a kick up the back side.
We need more quality in the squad for sure, and while this isn’t a deal that looks imminent or even likely at this stage it’s certainly something to keep an eye on as the window begins to wind down.
Saelaemaekers clearly doesn’t have a future at AC Milan right now, and the Hammers could well make a move once the conditions of a deal become a little bit clearer.
