West Ham United want to seal Alfie Harrison transfer at Manchester City
West Ham are interested in signing 18-year-old Manchester City midfielder Alfie Harrison, although Newcastle now look to have won the race for his signature, according to HITC.
The football news outlet reported via their website on 24 January that the Hammers joined Tottenham, Brighton, Celtic and Dortmund among other clubs pursuing Harrison, but a deal has now been agreed upon with Newcastle.
This comes after West Ham agreed a loan deal with City to bring Kalvin Phillips to the London Stadium, with the relationship between the two clubs proving to be positive.
A highly-rated prospect
Harrison is a bright prospect in the City Academy and has been tipped to go on to achieve big things, but as has been seen with other City Academy players, they often feel the need to leave the club in search of regular game time.
The likes of Jadon Sancho, Romeo Lavia, James McAttee and James Trafford, among others, have left City straight out of the academy and gone straight into the first team at Dortmund, Southampton, Sheffield United and Burnley respectively.
That serves as proof that players like Harrison already have the quality to play Premier League football, but need a club that can afford them the opportunity, so it comes as no surprise that he has opted to leave City.

It will be a source of frustration to the Hammers that they appear to have missed out on a very talented young player, but it appears Newcastle made the first move in their determination to land the youngster who they feel will play for them for years to come.
