West Ham United want to hijack deal to sign Tete amid ‘previous links with Lucas Paqueta’
West Ham have been seeking a deal for former Shakhtar Donetsk forward Tete but could be running out of time after Turkish side Galatasaray made a move for him, according to Mike McGrath.
The Daily Telegraph reported tweeted (8 August) that the forward, who spent last season on loan to Leicester City, is currently a free agent after his contract with the Ukrainian side expired.
The Hammers aim to hijack Galatasaray’s deal to bring the Brazilian to the Premier League.
McGrath said: “West Ham have looked at deal for Brazilian forward Tete but running out of time as Galatasaray have made a move for him.
“The 23-year-old was at Leicester last season and has previous links with Lucas Paqueta and Emerson Palmieri from playing at Lyon.”
Steal
With West Ham needing to make new signings, a free deal for the Brazilian could be ideal.
He has earned plenty of first-team experience, including 108 appearances for Shakhtar Donetsk and 3 appearances for Ligue 1 side Lyon.
A move to the London Stadium would see him reunite with former teammates Lucas Paqueta, with whom he shared a pitch while at Lyon on loan.

However, his Premier League experience with Leicester would be of the most interest to the Hammers. While not prolific with just one league goal with the Foxes, his technical ability and dribbling make him a dangerous opponent.
The Hammers are in need of attacking recruits this summer, with Gianluca Scamacca officially departing for Serie A side Atalanta while the future of Michail Antonio remains unknown.
But Turkey could be an appealing prospect for Tete. With Champions League football looking likely for the Turkish side, perhaps joining a new league would suit him. West Ham meanwhile would likely be able to offer higher wages, and with European football themselves this season they’re not exactly an unattractive prospective club.
But David Sullivan will have to act quickly if he wants a deal to be done as Galatasary are seemingly in pole position.
In other West Ham news, the Hammers are “close” to securing a Manchester United star.
