West Ham United want to finalise personal terms with Lille midfielder Amadou Onana

West Ham United are now looking to finalise personal terms with Lille midfielder Amadou Onana according to 90min journalist Graeme Baily.

However, Bailey also suggested on Wednesday 3 August that an agreement with Onana is still someway from being completed.

Sky Sports reported (3 August) that the Hammers have agreed a deal in principle with Lille, thought to be in the region of £33.5million.

Get it done

The Hammers should be wasting no time in meeting the demands of Onana and his representatives.

As long as the Lille midfielder hasn’t demanded to be one of the club’s highest-paid players, then the Hammers should seriously consider being generous in terms of their wage offer to the 20-year-old.

This is a signing that is very much for the future and the Hammers could well see a significant return on their investment in the coming years should Onana go on to be a success at the London Stadium.

David Moyes has enjoyed a superb summer window and a move for the Lille midfielder could well prove to be another piece of astute business for the Hammers.

West Ham

Moyes currently has three central midfield options to choose from, with Declan Rice and Tomas Soucek his experienced heads and new arrival Flynn Downes a more inexperienced option.

Downes is a less experienced option and Moyes would ideally have four players to choose from in midfield.

If the club can add Onana, a left-back and potentially a central defender, then it will be one of the best transfer windows in recent memory for West Ham.
