West Ham United want Shea Charles transfer as new checks emerge

West Ham could make a move for Sheffield Wednesday midfield loanee Shea Charles, according to the Daily Mirror.

The newspaper reported via its print edition (1 January, pg 63) that the Hammers have “checked on” Charles as they look to strengthen their options after several worrying performances in recent weeks.

Julen Lopetegui is under increasing pressure at the London Stadium and the early arrivals of new signings may be needed in a bid to save his job with Charles one of several names to have been linked.

It’s stated that Leicester City are also interested in a deal for the midfielder who joined Southampton last season in a £12million deal.

Shea Charles linked with West Ham transfer

Charles has impressed massively out on loan at Sheffield Wednesday and has played an influential role in their rise up the Championship table.

His ability on the ball matched with his physical presence in midfield has seen him thrive in England’s second tier and it comes as no surprise to see Premier League clubs once again sniffing around for his signature.

January has the potential to make or break the season for the Irons and given how poorly they have faired so far, supporters will certainly hope for the former as transfer links heat up.

Randal Kolo-Muani is another to have been linked with a switch to the London Stadium (CaughtOffside) and the importance of early business cannot be overstated.

If West Ham are to turn their season around, the ability to add to their squad in the early stages of the window could be paramount.

In other West Ham news, the Irons could accept a £100m deal for this player in January.
