West Ham United want Scott McTominay transfer as Manchester United expect Fulham bid
West Ham are still interested in a deal for Scott McTominay this summer but face competition from a trio of Premier League rivals, according to Manchester World.
The outlet’s website reported on 3 July that Fulham are now leading the charge, Southampton and Newcastle United also want the Scotland international, with a bid now “expected” from the West London side.
Cottagers boss Marco Silva wants to pair the midfielder with another ex-Red Devil in Andreas Pereira but the Irons are still in the race this summer, although their interest is said to have “waned” since last summer when a big was rejected with David Moyes in charge.
But Julen Lopetegui’s Irons side do still like the 27-year-old, who is not the only Old Trafford player they would like to sign with full-back Aaron Wan-Bissaka also a target this summer [Dharmesh Sheth, 2 July].
West Ham also want Aaron Wan-Bissaka from Old Trafford
McTominay, aside from the obvious Scottish link, had the makings of a Moyes target but after a campaign where he scored 10 goals in all competitions it appears interest hasn’t left the London Stadium with the former manager.
Central midfield looks relatively well stocked compared to other areas of Lopetegui’s squad, but there still looks to be an intent from the Spaniard to overhaul things with talks also held for Celtic star Matt O’Riley [HITC, 2 July].
Tim Steidten’s continued presence should in theory help pick up any McTominay negotiations from last summer where they left off, although the lack of success 12 months ago suggests there would be some work still to do.
Moyes wanted the midfielder along with Harry Maguire at the time, and while it was seemingly the England defender who was the closer of the two to heading to the capital West Ham were left empty-handed either way.

New minority owner at Old Trafford Sir Jim Ratcliffe supposedly stepped in to make a decision over McTominay’s future last season with the Daily Star reporting on 24 March that a new deal was set to be offered, which would suggest any move from the Irons would now be even harder to complete.
However, nothing appears to have been announced since so, as with Wan-Bissaka, this may be the last opportunity for INEOS to get a return in the transfer market and the Hammers could take advantage if Lopetegui and Steidten wish to push for it.
In other West Ham news, the Irons have made new contract offers in the hope of preventing a key prospect from leaving to top flight rivals.
