West Ham United want Kyle Walker-Peters as Southampton ‘could be tempted’ to sell
West Ham are keeping tabs on Kyle Walker-Peters as the defender’s contract situation at Southampton means the Championship club could be tempted to sell, according to talkSPORT.
The digital news outlet shared via their website [14 December] that his contract expires at the end of next season, meaning the Saints could agree to a reasonable bid for his services.
The Hammers are reportedly looking to sign a player who can provide backup for Emerson Palmieri and Vladimir Coufal, and Walker-Peters can play both roles.

A fantastic option
There are several reasons why signing Walker-Peters would make plenty of sense for West Ham. A homegrown player with Premier League experience, who is still just 26 years old and can play on either side of the defence not just to provide competition but to push for regular starts.
The deal would also give the defender an opportunity to move back to London, where he began his career with the Hammers’ rivals Tottenham, meaning he may be more in favour of this move than possibilities elsewhere.
If a slightly lower fee can be agreed to due to his contract situation, that becomes yet another reason for the Hammers to make this happen, and if Southampton fail to get promoted there is every chance Walker-Peters could force their hand to make the switch.

Everything seems to be perfect as far as this move is concerned, although Southampton will want to retain the signature of one of their star players regardless of his contract situation, as he will be a vital part of their push back towards the Premier League.
