West Ham United want Kalvin Phillips January loan deal done ASAP amid fears of rival offers
West Ham want to complete the loan signing of Kalvin Phillips from Manchester City as soon as they can, amid fears that rival offers could come in, according to Graeme Bailey.
The HITC journalist reported via his Twitter account on 23 January that the Hammers are set to continue negotiations with City today in a race to finalise the January deal.
Bailey did, however, clarify that West Ham are “very much” at the front of the queue of clubs wanting to sign the England international, with talks ongoing.
Just get it over the line
Some late nerves were always bound to hit West Ham, with the profile and reputation of Phillips attracting interest from some top clubs, but as they are in the lead to secure his signature, they must ensure they get this deal over the line.
Given the level of interest in Phillips’ signature, including from European giants such as Juventus and Barcelona, the decision to move to the London Stadium should be seen as a huge coup from Moyes and his transfer team.
With West Ham looking to remain competitive in the Europa League after topping their group, as well as targeting a high finish in the Premier League, the acquisition of Phillips in January will prove a big step towards achieving those goals.

There is just over a week left of the January transfer window, and any late slip from the Hammers would likely be a huge blow, with very little time to secure a deal for a backup option if another club managed to swoop late for Phillips.
In other West Ham news, the club are the most likely to sign a £35million Chelsea ace.
