West Ham United want Coventry ace Callum O’Hare in eight-man transfer overhaul
West Ham are planning to make as many as eight new signings this summer as they look to boost their homegrown quota, according to The Guardian.
Jacob Steinberg reported via the paper’s website on 29 April that Coventry City’s attacking midfielder Callum O’Hare is in the Irons’ sights, with the club said to be impressed by the data the 25-year-old has generated, as they focus on the Championship for British signings.
The Englishman has impressed under Mark Robins this term after returning from a cruciate ligament injury earlier this season, with the Sky Blues boss branding his two goals “brilliant” against Sheffield Wednesday [beIN Sports, 6 February], from a total of 10 goals and four assists this season.
O’Hare is out of contract this summer and according to Steinberg he is “expected” to leave the Coventry Building Society Area, with West Ham now in the running to sign him.
West Ham overhaul expected for David Moyes replacement
With David Moyes now expected to be replaced at West Ham it looks as if the break from one era to the next is set to be extensive if technical director Tim Steidten is to lead an extensive overhaul of the squad.
The German has clashed with the Scot in his year in London and transfer windows appear to have been effected, but eight new arrivals would leave the Irons squad looking very different under a new manager.
Who that is set to be is still undecided, with Julen Lopetegui still a prominent option and Hansi Flick seemingly emerging as a contender.
O’Hare’s addition would be useful if whoever comes in to replace Moyes is ready to use him, with Flynn Downes likely to be left perplexed if the club are looking to stock up on players who fit his description two years after his disappointing move from Swansea.

West Ham are bound to need a number of attacking recruits whoever is in charge, with the picture in the forward areas weakened by the departures of Gianluca Scamacca, Pablo Fornals and Said Benrahma in the past two windows, without replacement.
O’Hare would go some way to addressing that issue, although with Lucas Paqueta still in the sights of Manchester City he would have big boots to fill to even replace the Brazilian star.
Wide men are being targeted from overseas already, so it looks like the club are set for a very busy summer.
In other West Ham news, Steidten is now pushing a Champions League winner to replace Moyes at the London Stadium.
