West Ham United turn to Aaron Wan-Bissaka as terms change after Noussair Mazraoui collapse

West Ham are now focusing on signing Aaron Wan-Bissaka after seeing a move for Noussair Mazraoui collapse, according to Florian Plettenberg.

The Sky Sports Germany journalist reported via X on 26 July that Manchester United have lowered their demands and new talks between the Premier League sides are planned for the weekend.

Plettenberg earlier reported that the Hammers had agreed a deal with Bayern and Mazraoui but the move failed thanks to a failure to secure terms with his agent.

His latest update says Manchester United want £10million to £15million for Wan-Bissaka but there is currently no agreement yet.

The Irons walked away from the Mazraoui deal only to have their place taken there by Erik ten Hag’s side, who in turn need to shift Wan-Bissaka if they are to sign the Moroccan from Bayern.

If the English international ends up at the London Stadium it may be that all parties will be satisfied so if INEOS are ready to play ball a pair of deals could be on the way.

Julen Lopetegui would be getting a player who is regarded as one of the best in one-on-one situations defensively [Guardian] but leaves something to be desired in attack.

But after Ben Johnson rejected all offers to stay at the club and left for Ipswich Town there is a clear need for a new right-back and Kyle Walker-Peters at Southampton has proven impossible to agree a fee for [Dharmesh Sheth, 20 July].

Wan-Bissaka for around £10m looks like an attractive signing for Tim Steidten as he is still only 26 and should challenge long-term starter Vladimir Coufal.

The Czech has been linked with an exit himself [Mehmet Ozcan, 28 June] but whether he goes this summer or not a long-term replacement plan needs to be in place.
