West Ham United transfer twist as Nayef Aguerd makes shock deadline day decision

West Ham defender Nayef Aguerd has rejected a move to Al-Ittihad on transfer deadline day, according to Santi Aouna.

The Foot Mercato reported on 30 August that it was a loan with an option to buy which would make the total deal worth £21million for the Hammers.

However, the Moroccan is keen on a La Liga switch and Villarreal and Real Sociedad are leading the chase to secure his services.

West Ham need to make the most from Nayef Aguerd’s sale on transfer deadline day

Aguerd’s market value, having been signed for around £30million, represents a significant asset that could bolster the club’s transfer budget if sold for a similar or higher fee.

With interest from high-spending clubs like Al-Ittihad and European interest indicating his value, West Ham must capitalise on this demand to not only recover their investment but also to fund further squad enhancements.

Additionally, Aguerd’s departure could free up wages, providing financial flexibility in case things open up at the last minute for the Hammers to seal deals.

They’ve made some good signings this summer but work may still be going on behind the scenes and Aguerd’s sale may help get those deals over the line.

It’s pretty clear that the Moroccan has fallen down in the pecking order at the club and that Julen Lopeteugi does not see him as a viable option.

Hopefully, one of the La Liga sides also comes up with a big-money offer as the Hammers will want to sell him to the highest bidder.

In other West Ham news, the club have agreed personal terms for a new signing as they look to seal a deadline-day blitz.
