West Ham United transfer priority shared in latest Fabrizio Romano update
West Ham United’s “priority” will be to work on transfer exits ahead of the 30 August deadline, according to Fabrizio Romano.
The transfer specialist reported via his Daily Briefing Substack on Wednesday (21 August) that the Hammers are attempting to strike a deal for Paris Saint-Germain midfielder Carlos Soler.
While the club are set for direct talks with the player’s camp over the next few days, their main priority is moving players on from the London Stadium before the transfer window shuts on 30 August.
West Ham United to focus on exits after transfer flurry
Julen Lopetegui has added a plethora of new faces to the squad during the summer transfer window, with a lot of excitement now building at the London Stadium.
However, with just nine days of the window remaining, there is still a lot of work to be done before the Hammers’ business is over for the summer.
The signings of Wes Foderingham, Aaron Wan-Bissaka, Max Kilman, Jean-Clair Todibo, Guido Rodriguez, Niclas Fullkrug, Crysencio Summerville and Luis Guilherme have left Lopetegui with far too many options for the matchday squad.
Kilman and Rodriguez were the only new signings to start during a 2-1 opening-day defeat to Aston Villa on Saturday, 17 August. The squad could have a very different look by the time the window has closed, though.
As many as nine players from the first-team squad could be sold before 30 August [The Times], with Danny Ings, Michail Antonio, Vladimir Coufal and James Ward-Prowse among the names on the list.
Kurt Zouma, who recently failed a medical ahead of a move to Al Shabab [Dharmesh Sheth], and Maxwel Cornet, who was not involved last weekend, are also at risk of losing their spot in the squad.

There is plenty of business still to be done at the London Stadium, but with the clock ticking, the club will need to be working overtime if sales are to be made before the window closes.
