West Ham United: Tomas Soucek to Inter Milan move ‘would not be a surprise’ after Thursday development
Tomas Soucek leaving West Ham for Inter Milan “would not be a surprise”, according to Corriere dello Sport.
The Italian outlet reported on Thursday (12 October), via FC Inter News, that Inter director Piero Ausilio was due to be in attendance for the Euro 2024 qualifier between Albania and Czech Republic later that day to watch Soucek up close.
West Ham have the option of triggering an extension clause in Soucek’s soon-to-be-expiring contract, which would keep him tied down at London Stadium until the end of next season.

However, Corriere dello Sport (12 October) states that “the obstacle” of signing Soucek “is not insignificant, but the London club will still have to deal with the will of its player”.
The report adds: “At 28 years old, it would not be a surprise if he wanted to try to make the leap to a more prestigious team. And Inter, in this sense, could really be the ideal stage for his ambitions.”
Just getting started
After a poor campaign overall last time out for Soucek – something he recently admitted was down to a lack of motivation – the Czech midfielder has looked back to his best this season.
The 28-year-old was on target against Newcastle United last weekend to make it four goals and two assists in 10 appearances at club level this campaign.
It is perhaps no coincidence that Soucek has stepped things up following the arrivals of Edson Alvarez and James Ward-Prowse during the summer, with both players helping to get more out of their team-mate.
Ultimately, the ball is in West Ham’s court when it comes to Soucek’s future…. to an extent.

While he will be under contract until July 2025, United will likely have to cash in at the end of this season if he does not agree to a longer commitment.
For all the talk of Inter being a bigger club than United, Soucek is into his fifth season as a Hammer and may well decide that he would rather stay in East London.
Either way, it appears that this speculation is only just getting started.
In other West Ham news, David Moyes is reportedly looking to strengthen in a couple of different positions.
